Prayer Life Resources
Prayer is a conversation with our Creator. It is spending time speaking our heart to our Father who cares deeply for us and about our concerns. It isn't that God doesn't already know what is going on in our lives. We aren't telling God anything new. But He desires to have a relationship with us. He is our friend and wants to communicate with us. He has revealed Himself to us through the Bible, His Holy Word. There he tells us how He longs to be in relationship with us. So much so that He sent His own Son Jesus to bridge the gap between us so we can be free to come to him ourselves and communicate. When we talk to God we open our hearts to Him. That's what prayer is all about. Opening ourselves up to God and recognizing that He can help us. You wouldn't ask a child to buy you a car would you? But you might ask someone who you knew had the money and means to buy it for you. When you pray you are saying, God I know you have the power to do this. Prayer is an expression of your faith in God. It is your expression that He is able to do all that you are asking. Prayer isn’t a ritual. We don’t have to close our eyes, kneel or sit. We can pray while walking, driving, or working. God responds to a two word cry for help in the middle of a busy afternoon, just like He does to a focused prayer time after reading Scripture in the morning. Praying doesn’t have to be complicated. God delights in any simple words we offer Him. God also delights in our praise. When we stop to thank Him we are recognizing what He has done for us. Our gratitude can in fact increase our faith in God. Our faith in God can change our whole world for the better. Faith opens up a wealth of new opportunities and reasons to have hope. May you find that prayer helps to deepen and enrich your relationship with your Lord.
