God Is Still Good
Now, when we look for the good amidst so much that is going on, it is easy to be distracted by what we see, what we hear, and what we experience.
We see the challenges that continue to exist in the world; but, challenges existed before COVID-19. If God was good before COVID-19, is God still good now?
We hear about the racism being enacted against the most vulnerable in our society; but, racism has existed for a long time and we have had to fight for every ounce of dignity and advancement that we have made. Nobody has given us anything. If God was good when we were trying to overcome racism in the past, is God still good now?
We are experiencing breaches of mental, emotional, and spiritual stability with all of the problems that we face every day; but, we have been facing problems since we came out of our mother's womb. We had some help from others through God's intervening grace and if God has covered us, kept us, provided for us and protected us in the past, do we think that He has decided to stop covering us, keeping us, providing for us and protecting us now? In other words, if God has been good to us in the past, is God still good now?
Today is a good day. My oldest son, Hamilton, turned 25 today. God is still good. We are not together and able to celebrate as we would have in the past. God is still good. We called him on the phone and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. God is still good. And, the singing was not too bad either.
Beloved, if you have good without God, then I would question if what you have is really good.
You see, in Luke 18:19, Jesus said, "No one is good but God alone."
Beloved, if you have God and you love God, then in Romans 8:28, the Apostle Paul reminds us, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."
Beloved, the God who was good and the God who was love is the God who is good and the God who is love and will be the God who will be good and the God who will be love.
So, beloved, as problems, challenges, issues, situations, trials and tribulations come to test and strengthen your faith, know that God is still good. And, our good God will never leave you or forsake you. He is ever-present and ready to help you because He loves you. At the bottom of this message, I hope you will look at the image posted regarding "7 Promises From God" that I believe you will find encouraging.
Beloved, the love that God gives is a love that should be shared. We will be sharing our love at Noonday Prayer. Some of you have connected and fallen away in your connecting. I encourage you to stay connected as the power of the Holy Spirit will bind us together in love as we seek to support and encourage each other through acts of grace such as praying with and for each other.
I encourage you also to listen to The Light radio station at 3pm for our church's sermon broadcast. You might want to invite someone else to listen so that if you are blessed by God's messages to our church family, the messages may be a blessing to someone else.
Looking forward to connecting with you soon.
And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
Be blessed,
Rev. Cain
