God Still Loves You
It would be easy to lapse into a story about how we got over because we tried real hard, were smart, were lucky, knew the right people, fate was on our side, there are two sides to every coin and ours came up heads instead of tails; but, we would be missing the point and leaving someone incredibly important out of the story.
You see, beloved, you are still here right now because God loves you.
Now, when I mean you are still here, I mean with some semblance of peace in your spirit, calm in your heart, clothed in your right mind with a reasonable portion of health and strength. You see, some people are with us but they are nowhere near their best selves on their way to becoming better versions of themselves. They are not thriving, not even striving. Instead, they are simply struggling.
And, as a result of their struggles, they question whether or not God loves them, or, let us deal with the real, if there is even a God to love them.
Beloved, sometimes, you need to take an inventory of your life when you find yourself dealing with your current trial, tribulation, problem, situation, issue, circumstance that comes with living on this side of glory and either accept it as a setback or a setup.
If God does not love you, then it is a setback and you should count it as life just happens to you like everyone else. And, as a result, you may look at the odds and probabilities of such an outcome and ask the question, "Why me?"
Funny how people tend to only ask "Why me?" when bad things happen but have many reasons and explanations for why good things happen to them.
But, if God does love you, then it is a setup and you should expect for God to use whatever you are going through right now as an opportunity for His praise, honor and glory. Then, you will find yourself, perhaps, asking
the question, "Why not me?".
Why shouldn't God take me through this trial so that He can get some glory from my life?
Why shouldn't God take me through this trouble so that He can get some glory from my life?
Why shouldn't God take me through this tribulation so that He can get some glory from my life?
Why not me?
You see, beloved, no matter what you are going through, God still loves you.
The Apostle Paul put it like this in Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced (I know that I know that I know) that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation (including COVID19, economic disruption, or racial disharmony), will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (as guided by the Holy Spirit)."
Beloved, God still loves you and the devil is still a liar. Believe in God's truth and walk in the power of the freedom that comes from doing so no matter what you face in life.
We are all dealing with something difficult in our lives at various times. None of us are exempt but all of God's children are the elect. We have been chosen to receive God's love, love that will carry us through all that we are going through.
We will be sharing and showing love with and for each other today at Noonday prayer. Connect with us as we remind each other that God still loves us all.
So, beloved, remember that God still loves you and I love you too!
Be blessed,
Rev. Cain
