There Is No Other God
Beloved,
I hope and pray that my email finds you well, blessed and knowing that you are highly favored by the Most High God. I also hope and pray that our mothers are still basking in the glow of your lovelight shone upon them as you showed them how important, invaluable, and incredible that they are to you. We know that the love that we share with each other is a reflection of the love given to us by our Heavenly Father, God.
During times like these, dealing with the pandemic, the coronavirus, COVID-19, we need to keep our focus on God and do our best to remember that God always has His focus on us.
We are blessed beyond what we know.
We are favored beyond what we deserve.
And, we loved beyond what we could ever imagine.
Who could and would bless us like that, favor us like that, and love us like that? Only one. God.
On this Mother's Day, it was a time of reflection that brought me some sadness as it was another Mother's Day without my mother, who passed in 2002, and it was also the first Mother's Day without my father, who passed on to the other side of glory on July 27th of last year, 10 days after my 52nd birthday.
But, in the midst of the sadness, I also found gladness in knowing that God still has me here in the land of the living to allow His love to flow into me and to be poured out into the lives of others. So, as was preached on Sunday, I have chosen to love my other mothers, not necessarily of birth but definitely of love.
And, I could not do it without God.
As I look outside right now, I see the light of a new day even though the day is cloudy. Even though I cannot see the sun in the sky, I know it is day because there is light for me to see what I could not see if it was dark outside.
With God, we too can be light to others in the midst of darkness. Some people need to have hope that today is not like any other day. You may be that light of hope for someone else to lift them out the darkness that goes beyond the natural eyes and instead dwells in mind, heart and spirit.
To do so, we all need to remember that we are only here on this earth right now because of God, the one true God.
God said of Himself in Isaiah 45:5-6, "I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides me there is no god (notice the little g). I arm you (God, notice the big G, covers you, keeps you, provides for you, and protects you.), though you do not know me, so that they may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is no one besides me; I am the Lord, and there is no other."
Beloved, with all of the uncertainty in the world, with COVID-19, prior to COVID-19 and after COVID-19, I am so thankful that each and every day that I am in the land of the living, God is still God.
And, because God is not a man that He should lie, I know that what He speaks of Himself is not opinion, idea, wishful thinking, or hope. No, what God says about God is absolute fact.
We need not look for another god. We need not search for another god. We need not yearn for another god. There is no other god. All such attempts are vain efforts to do the impossible. You may find another idol; but, there is only one God.
And, during these times, great comfort, peace, joy and love should come from knowing that the One True God is not only your God, He is also your Heavenly Father.
Thank you dear God for telling us the truth about You. May we find satisfaction in knowing that our search was over before it began because there is no other God.
Beloved, we will be connecting today for Noonday prayer. Refer to your contact sheet and join us. Every time we have connected, the prayers of the righteous, spoken, heard, encouraged, and enjoined have been a total blessing for me and those on the call. Do not miss your blessing during this wonderful time of spiritual unity and solidarity for our church family, Zion specifically, and the church universal as others sometimes join us.
Also, this evening, at 6:30pm, for HOPE Wednesday, we will continue our journey through The Beatitudes with Chapter 7 of our lesson materials entitled "Making Peace". Now, I would imagine all of us could use a lesson on that topic. I know I am looking forward to our conversation this evening. Again, refer to your contact sheet and join us.
In addition, please email me your suggested topics for the Summer Mini Lessons.
So, we have two opportunities for connection on this wonderful Wednesday. Take full advantage of what God is providing you and connect with us. And, as always, invite someone to join with us as we journey from this side of glory to the other side expecting God to arm us with everything that we need, as He has promised to do, in between.
And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
Be blessed,
Rev. Cain
