Be Christian Wherever You Go

Beloved,

I must ask for your forgiveness as this Wednesday Word is being received on a Thursday. Simply put, getting myself and my family back on the regular schedule at the beginning of the year caused me to miss out on doing something I committed to doing years ago. And, I am truly sorry.

Being able to ask for forgiveness is something that I have learned to do on the regular as a child of God. I know God forgives me when I mess up and I hope and pray you will forgive my transgression of omission that I will attempt to make up for now.

Being Christian does not mean being perfect. It does mean that we are ambassadors, representatives, of the perfect one, Jesus the Christ. As the church, the Body of Christ, we are supposed to carry on Jesus' work.

Are you doing your part?

When Jesus was still on the earth, He sent out ambassadors before Him and He is still sending out ambassadors through every saved soul that is working out their soul salvation.

What He did then and what He expected then, He still expects from us now.

What did He expect and what does He expect?

Luke 10:1-2 tells us, "After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he himself intended to go. He said to them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'"

Beloved, those who He spoke to were not the twelve apostles; but, they were His disciples, His followers.

Basically, He sent those who had answered the call out to let others know that He was coming.

So, everywhere that He intended to go, the people would be ready to receive Him.

And, because so many needed Him, the impact of their lives, those sent out, would do incredible things for those who they met.

Those who they met were the harvest for the Lord. Those who met them were the laborers who would participate in the harvest.

Beloved, believe it or not, please believe it, nothing has changed.

If you have answered the call of Christ and given your life to Him, then you are one of the laborers who have been sent out to bring to the Lord His harvest.

But, to do so, you must be Christian wherever you go.

Sound like a tall task. It is not. Just be who you are.

You are a child of God. You are saved and redeemed from sin by the blood of your Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. You are a part of a church family that loves you and desires for you to be the best that God intends for you to be.

And, in your being who you are, you are all that somebody needs to also answer the call.

Where have you been sent? You have a home. Be Christian at home. You have a job. Be Christian on the job. You live in a community. Be Christian in your community. You go to school. Be Christian at your school. You go shopping. Be Christian at the store. You go out to eat. Be Christian at the restaurant. You go on vacation. Be Christian on vacation. You have family. Be Christian before your family. You have friends. Be Christian before your friends. You run across strangers. Be Christian when you meet strangers.

Now, it seems like there are plenty of opportunities to be Christian wherever you go. It seems like the harvest is not hard to find. It is wherever you go.

So, be Christian wherever you go. Somebody needs to see and meet the Christ who is in you.

Beloved, again, I sincerely apologize for being 24 hours late with this message; but, I hope and pray that as you receive it, you will know the love contained within it that I feel for you.

For those who are also getting back into the rhythm of things in 2020, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Let this be the year that you help bring in the harvest by inviting someone to come and be with us at Worship Service, Sunday School, HOPE Wednesday, Women's Meetings and Seminars, Youth Activities, Men's Fellowship Gatherings, Vacation Bible School, Senior Ministry Meetings, etc. Zion Memorial is providing harvesting opportunities for the building of God's kingdom. Let 2020 be a year that you earnestly and intentionally be a laborer for the Lord.

And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
