Are you wise?

Beloved,

Many of us admire those who know exactly what to say, when to say it and, most importantly, how to say it. We call them wise.

Can all of us be wise? Perhaps.

James 3:13-18 tells us,

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be boastful and false to the truth. Such wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish. For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there will also be disorder and wickedness of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace."

So, the question may not be "Can all be wise?". It may be "Are you wise?".

Wisdom comes from God and He pours it out liberally on those who seek Him.

James 1:5 says,

"If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you."

So, are you wise?

Have you asked God for help in all aspects of your life? That would be wise.

Do you seek to please God before seeking to please others, including yourself? That would be wise.

Is what you do for the glory of God? That would be wise.

Do you seek peace where others seek conflict and chaos? That would be wise.

If you have an attitude of gratitude towards God in all things, you are seeking God in all things and God will bless that.

If all wisdom comes from above, then constantly going to the one who is above, God, in the name of Jesus, would seem like the only thing to do...if you want to be wise.

So, are you wise?

Ask God.

Look forward to seeing all of you this evening in Bible Study as we begin our journey through the Book of Job.

I think it would be wise for you to be there if you can and even better if you invited somebody to come with.

I love you and am praying for God's best for you.

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
