You Are A Living Testimony
Beloved,
I pray that my note finds you being blessed and knowing that you are blessed. We have come to call Wednesday "Hump Day" as it is in the middle of the week. I pray that Wednesday as well as the other six days of the week are your "Hope Days" as God continues to reveal that you are truly saved and are a witness to others of what you have received because of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Did you know that hope is not something you should just have but that it is also something that you should also give?
Your life, your life story, should be one filled with hope that brims over into the lives of others. When people hear your name, it should be associated with hope. When you speak a word, it should be filled with hope. When you do something, it should instill hope.
Why? Because our hope is in Jesus and others need to know that.
How? It is easier than you think.
In 2 Corinthians 3:2-3, the Apostle Paul wrote,
"You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all; and you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."
Your life story is all the story that others are really going to be able to know about you. At a funeral, the eulogy, the words of well wishes or memories, is based on what you have shared with the world. It is what comes out of your heart as revealed in the world.
I know people who have tattoos. Tattoos have become more prominent in the world and some people like them while others do not. I like to know the story behind the tattoo because I think it makes the person more real.
But, the most interesting tattoo story is the one that is tattooed or inked on your heart. For this is the story that you truly live.
You are a living testimony. Embrace it. Make it all that it can be. And do it all for Christ.
Someone is watching you. Someone is listening to you. Someone is desiring to be like you...or not.
And, it is all based on your testimony.
As Christians, let us be salt and light in this world as our testimony is revealed before all.
We have Bible Study this evening. Yes, it is supposed to rain. What will your testimony be about today? Will it be that I do not go to Bible Study when it rains because that is too inconvenient? Or will it be that I go to Bible Study because Christ inconvenienced Himself to the point of death and beyond so that I would have a reason to go to Bible Study? What will your testimony be?
On Saturday at 9am, the church family will gather together to hear from an anointed preacher and teacher, a blessed woman of God, to teach us about evangelism. What will your testimony be on Saturday morning? Will it be that I like to sleep in on Saturdays or that is my day off so I am not going to be at church? Or will it be that I will be in the number learning how to better share the good news, the Gospel, about Jesus Christ? What will your testimony be?
On Saturday at 1pm for visitation and 2pm for the funeral, we will be celebrating the homegoing services of Mother Geraldine Cunningham. What will your testimony be on Saturday afternoon? Will it be that I am going to gather with the church family to celebrate the life on this side of glory of one of God's faithful daughters? Or will it be that I have something else to do and no one will notice if I do not show up? What will your testimony be?
On Sunday at 9:30am for Sunday School and 11am for Worship Service, the family will reunite again to praise and worship our God and expect to receive a word from the same God. What will your testimony be on Sunday morning? Will you come because you are hungry and thirsty for something that the world cannot give you? Or will you find that other things are more attractive to do on Sunday morning rather than coming into the house of the one who has offered you life and life eternal? What will your testimony be?
Lord willing, I will be preaching the eulogy of Mother Geraldine Cunningham on Saturday. The words shared by family and friends and by me will not be made up for the time for such things is passed. All that will be spoken will be a part of her testimony. The time for the writing of it by her life has ended. The time for the telling of it from beginning to end has begun. She has her testimony.
What will your testimony be?
I love you and look forward to seeing you as we come together and continue to write our testimonies.
You come and bring somebody with you.
Be blessed,
Rev. Cain
